Don't overcomplicate your life

Bad diet decisions are made at the store. If there's no chocolate at home, you won't eat it. If you put it in your cart at the store, you've already decided to eat it.

One of my favorite sayings is:

If all your problems can be solved with money, you've only got one problem – no money.

If you don't know much about something, pay a specialist to help you.

Don't like cleaning your place? Pay someone to clean it for you. Delegate or automate the other things you don't like doing.

Don't like shopping? Order stuff in bulk with free delivery. Try to automate it.

Don't make problems out of nothing. If the dishwasher needs emptying or there's laundry to do, just do it. Don't ask whose turn it is! Don't think about whether you feel like it or not.

Don't spend six months putting off a task that takes an hour.

Respect your time. Instead of figuring out how to save PLN 5 (about a dollar) by hunting down the deals from a promo flyer at a cheaper store across town, think about how to double your income and get busy with the tasks that will get you there. Your travel time is worth more than what you might save.

In most cases, things aren't hard in themselves. It's thinking about them that makes them hard.

Don't try to do everything perfectly. Getting to high quality is an iterative process. If you want to write something, don't worry that it might not be very good. Start writing and keep improving it. It's good to start with something you can work on later. In the end, it turns out that good enough is enough.

Don't wonder whether you should go to the gym. Just pack your bag and go. Don't think about it, don't analyze it, don't give yourself time to overthink.

Fear grows with time. If you're scared to call someone, your best bet is to grab the phone and do it right away, before your fear gets too big and you start making up scenarios in your head.

If something stirs up strong emotions in you, that means it's exactly what you should do.

A simple experiment:

  • In the morning, right after you get out of bed, go to the shower.
  • Don't take a warm shower; turn on the ice-cold water straight away.
  • Stand in front of the stream and try to step under it.

Notice what thoughts run through your head before you do it. The longer you put it off, the harder it gets.

It's better to show up than not. Even if you don't feel like it, you're scared or you don't feel quite ready.

If you're afraid to ask a girl out, ask for a raise, talk to someone or ask about something, and you don't do it, then your only answer will be NO.

If you get past that fear, the answer can be YES or NO. If it doesn't work out, you've lost nothing. You can only gain.

Deep down, you know what to do. You don't need to ask anyone for advice.

  • Want an athletic body? You know exactly what it takes to get there.

  • Want to make more money? Don't kid yourself. You know perfectly well what you should be doing there too.

You'll pick up the details and the technical stuff along the way.

Quit whining! Keep it simple! You've got this.
